I love Celtic knot work. Complex patterns can be brought to precious metal with highly specialized tools specifically made for intricate design. These classic instruments motivate me to do my very best, mastering the ancient art of engraving.

Inspiration can come from many places: free-flowing shapes in nature; complicated, exquisite illustrations from ancient texts like The Book of Kells, and researching world-renowned artisans. Designing and carving a new piece can take anything from a few days to many weeks, depending on the complexity.

Once I am finally happy with the design in wax, I follow specific steps to maximize the best outcome in metal, from plaster mixing, to alloying, casting the molten metal at its prime temperature, then carefully finishing and polishing. Every step ensures fine detail with a strong structure.
